SERVICES



The Senior Centers of Cherokee County is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide fellowship, group dining meals and recreational activities to senior citizens who are aged sixty and above, in the Cherokee County area. Our goal is to see that all seniors are active (mentally, physically, and socially) in order to better live their lives with quality and dignity. Our purpose is to provide such services as: assistance in locating resources, information and referral, instruction, employment skill training, education, wellness activities, and artistic development for seniors aged sixty and above who wish to maintain an independent, active and healthy lifestyle.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES



We plan daily activities such as BINGO, games, music, craft activities, theme-days, entertainment, and exercise. We have an exercise room/gym with stationary bicycles and treadmills for our seniors to use. We also have a small library of fiction books that seniors can read.


**Please note that Senior Centers of Cherokee County, Inc. is not an adult daycare facility. We cannot accommodate members with cognitive impairments or those with decreased or deteriorating levels of independence including but not limited to: inability to maintain a constant level of activity and consciousness, inability to navigate within the building, and inability to conduct self-care. Caregivers are welcome to accompany seniors who can still actively participate in programs but may need a limited amount of support. Senior Centers reserves the right to deny or revoke membership to individuals who fall into these categories.**



JUDY PARK WALKING TRACK



Senior Centers of Cherokee County, Inc. has a beautiful fenced-in, shaded park with benches along a 1/4-mile paved walking track and a covered area with benches for our seniors to enjoy. This park was created in memory of Bernard and Freda Judy in 2006.



* TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE *



We provide transportation, Monday through Friday, to/from our site for those who need a ride, as well as provide transportation for seniors for essential shopping and to/from medical appointments such as dialysis. Occasionally, we take the seniors on day trips.



* GROUP DINING *



June Menu



Senior adults, aged 60+, are invited to attend our weekday group/communal meals. We provide hot, nutritionally balanced, USDA approved meals, socialization, and nutrition education. ​

SENIOR FOOD BOX PROGRAM



Senior Centers of Cherokee County, Inc. partners with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to provide a nonperishable supplemental box of nutritional food to Cherokee County residents who are 60 year of age or older. Boxes are provided on a monthly basis to eligible individuals.



SENIOR FARMERS' MARKET



Senior Centers of Cherokee County, Inc. partners with SCDSS to provide the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), which is a seasonal USDA grant program. They provide participants with access to fresh, nutritious, unprocessed food and vegetables from local farmers' markets. This program is designed to increase awareness and use of community markets.
